Canovas

This neighbourhood is known for its luxurious shops and boutiques filled with beautiful clothes and Spanish delicates. Situated just south of the old city centre, you can enjoy a lot of nice restaurants and bars here. A neighbourhood full of energy where you can enjoy a good cocktail on one of the many terraces on a warm summer evening!

Because of its location you can easily reach the Turia park from Canovas and also one of the main roads: Gran Via Marqués del Túria. The neighbourhood is part of the city district L’Eixample and it’s about 15 minutes walking from the old town. Mercado de Colon, one of the markets of Valencia, it’s known for the small cafes where you can enjoy coffee, tea, horchata and fartons; the typical bread from Valencia that you dip into the horchata drink. It is not a traditional food market like the Mercado Central and Mercado de Ruzafa. Canovas is popular amongst the working class of Valencia and more and more creative people are opening their shops there too.

Shopping

In Canovas you will not find big stores but small boutiques in many streets. Hop in Place for example; one space where different shops show their collection. Open since 2013 and here you can find vintage clothing, new clothes by hip and new labels, handmade presents, plants and many more things. In EseOese you can find bohemian chic clothes and accessories. This place is very popular with Spanish people! In the mood for something sweet? Cacao Sampaka offers great chocolate and turrón.

Drinks

If you want to grab a cocktail or nice wine after a day of discovering Valencia, Canovas can offer you enough places! Restaurants

In Canovas are many restaurants, where you can enjoy tapas, Asian food, fresh fish or more international dishes. Our favourites:

Casa Roberto

Spain’s most famous rice dish, paella, was found in Valencia. Rice is very popular in this region and around the city you can find beautiful and large rice fields. At Casa Roberto you can enjoy traditional rice dishes like Paella Valenciana, or rice with gambas. Did you know paella is a dish eaten during lunchtime and not for dinner? At this restaurant you can enjoy typical Spanish food for lunch and dinner.

Sleeping

From fancy hotel to cute B&B, Canovas offers a wide variety of accommodation. Because Canovas is getting trendier by day there are enough places to stay. Here are some places that we recommend:

ABCyou Bed& Breakfast

A Dutch couple runs this B&B and they transformed the building into a light and comfortable place where you can spend you Valencian nights. They offer double rooms and apartment suitable for 4 or 5 persons. Because of a mix of typical Spanish details and modern furniture this B&B is a hip and cosy option. There is also a coffee bar inside the B&B! More information about ABCyou and current rates you can find here.

Reinode Valencia Apartments

Very colourful apartments in the heart of Canovas are Reino de Valencia Apartments. Both apartments have four balconies each and are suitable for six persons. There are two bathrooms per apartment, a washing machine, a dishwasher and a microwave. The location is perfect: just ten minutes from the central station Estacion del Nort. Current availability can be found here.

Tips:
– When around Canovas definitely stop at Mercado de Colon to enjoy breakfast at Bocados, or try an authentic Horchata with farton at Horchateria Daniel. Are you more a person to drink a beer on the terrace? Then try Mi Cub just around the corner and order a Turia beer.
– Did you visit the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias? Make your way through Canovas and take a look at the small boutiques in this neighbourhood, like EseOese and El Mundo al Reves. EseOese is a popular Spanish boutique with cloths and accessories in a boho chic style. At El Mundo al Reves you can buy nice clothes, jewellery and bags for women.
– Looking for a perfect spot for a picnic? Buy some Manchego cheese at Casa Vela, some fresh baked bread at Pan Pan and the best ham of Valencia Jamon Iberico de Bellota and sit down in front of Palau de Música in the Turia Park!
