Are you looking for a fun way to explore Valencia? Don’t want to spend hours following a guide, but also don’t want to wander through the city without any background information? Then the interactive routes and city games from Verrassend Valencia are exactly what you’re looking for.

What is it?

With the Verrassend Valencia App, you can explore the city at your own pace. Simply navigate from one location to another using a digital compass, while discovering surprising stories, fun facts, local tips and questions along the way to earn points.

No long history lessons, but just enough information to really get to know the city. Developed by Dutch people who have lived in Valencia for many years and know the city inside and out.

Whether you’re visiting Valencia for the first time, enjoying a weekend away with friends, or exploring the city with your family, our interactive routes let you experience Valencia in a much more personal and fun way than a standard walking route.

Why choose an interactive route?

A city trip is all about discovery. But how do you find those charming little streets, fascinating stories, and local spots that aren’t listed in every travel guide? That’s exactly why we developed our interactive tours. On each tour, we combine the freedom of exploring on your own with the expertise of a local guide. So you don’t have to follow a group, but at the same time, you won’t miss out on any fascinating stories or hidden gems. In fact, because you do everything at your own pace, you actually have more time to truly enjoy Valencia. See a cozy outdoor café along the way? Take a seat. Come across a nice shop? Feel free to pop inside. Want to have a leisurely lunch or visit a museum? No problem. The app remembers exactly where you left off.

How the Verrassend Valencia App works

  • Choose the route or city game you want to do through our webshop and purchase a start code.
  • Download the Verrassend Valencia app from the App Store or Play Store onto your mobile phone.
  • Go to the menu and set the language to English.
  • Make sure your battery is fully charged before you head out, and consider bringing a charger or power bank just in case.
  • If necessary, remove any cards stored behind your phone, as they can interfere with the compass.
  • In the app, tap the route you purchased. You’ll see where the starting point is. Head there.
  • Once you arrive at the starting point, you can enter the code you purchased.
  • You’ll always see two numbers. The first number indicates how many meters you are away from the next point. The second number, in parentheses, indicates how many meters your phone’s location may deviate from the exact location.
  • Now follow the compass to reach the next point. You’ll see how many meters you are from the next point and which direction to go. Tip: You can also open a map to see where the next point is on the map.

If the compass isn’t working properly, try moving your phone in a figure-eight pattern. Also, make sure there are no cards behind your phone, as they can interfere with the compass.

  • You can use other apps as usual while following the route. You can also take breaks along the way. However, try to complete the route on the same day.
  • Along the route, you’ll answer questions and earn points. At the end of the route, you’ll see how many points you’ve earned.
