The neighbourhood Cánovas is known for it’s luxurious shops and boutiques filled with beautiful clothes and Spanish delicates. Situated just south of the old city centre, you can enjoy a lot of nice restaurants and bars. A neighbourhood full of energy where you can enjoy a good cocktail on one of the many terraces on a warm summer evening!

Cánovas is a lively neighbourhood in the L’Eixample district, located right next to the Turia Park and surrounding the wide Gran Via Marqués del Túria. The other two neighbourhoods in L’Eixample are Ruzafa and Pla de Remei. From Valencia’s historic center, it’s just a 15-minute walk to reach Cánovas.

The area is filled with beautiful apartment buildings, making it a popular spot for professionals and creatives. Stroll through the neighborhood and you’ll discover charming squares, boutique shops, trendy cocktail bars, and plenty of restaurants.

Shopping

There are no big retail chains in Cánovas, but you will discover plenty of unique boutiques tucked away in its charming streets. Take your time to wander around and step into the shops that catch your eye, you’ll stumble upon some real hidden gems!

At Loreak on Carrer de Joaquín Costa 11, women can find stylish pieces, while Uomomania on Carrer de Ciscar 30 is the go-to spot for men and kids looking for a fresh new outfit.

Drinks

If you want to grab a cocktail or nice wine after a day of discovering Valencia, Cánovas can offer you a lot of different places! The many terraces are crowded during the evening and clubs will be filled with people dancing. Because Cánovas is a residential neighbourhood, bars will close around 02.00 and clubs around 04.00.

Apotheke

Apotheke is Valencia’s very first speakeasy cocktail bar and what a gem it is! A speakeasy, by definition, harks back to the Prohibition era in the United States: hidden venues where alcohol was served behind closed doors, away from prying eyes. The charm lies in the secrecy from the street, you’d never guess what’s waiting inside.

Apotheke may give you a little clue with its discreet sign above the door, but to actually step inside, you’ll need the password of the day. Once in, you’re treated to an inventive cocktail menu: think Whisky Sour scented with bacon and Parmesan bitters, or a smoky Mezcal Paloma. Feeling peckish? They also serve fantastic bites, oysters included.

For a fun night out in a classic English pub, Robin Hood is the place to be! The cozy, intimate interior makes it the perfect stop during your pub hopping adventure in Valencia. As well, they serve an impressive selection of beers, both on tap and bottled.

Valencians love this place as well, either unwinding after work (around 20.00) or grabbing a drink before dinner. A lively spot with that warm vibe, perfect if you’re craving that authentic pub feel. Robin Hood stays open until 03.00 from Thursday to Saturday.

Restaurants

Love going out for dinner? Cánovas is the place to be! Many, many restaurants are in this neigbourhoud to satisfy every craving! Our favourites:

Casa Roberto

When we say Casa Roberto, we say paella! This most famous Spanish dish was found in Valencia. Still it is possible to visit the rice fields in L’Albufera. At Casa Roberto you can enjoy traditional rice dishes like Paella Valenciana, or rice with gambas. Did you know paella is a dish eaten during lunch time and not for dinner? At this restaurant you can enjoy typical Spanish food for lunch and dinner.

Turqueta

More looking for a cozy dining spot? Turqueta is a great choice. As part of the well-known Grupo Saona, it offers a warm atmosphere and friendly service. The menu focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, and best of all, there’s plenty of variety to suit every taste. At Turqueta they have all kind of cheap menu’s! A recommendation is the poké bowl with tuna, avocado, rice and the chicken teriyaki with sesame sauce and spring onions. Mmmm…. this bowl is amazing!
