Every year this Catholic holiday is celebrated on a different day. In 2025 it is celebrated on the 19th of June. It is celebrated on the second Sunday after Pentecost. On this page you can find more information about this holiday. The 2026 program hasn’t been finalized yet.

What?

The Latin word ‘Corpus Christi’ means ‘body of Christ’. Corpus Christi is a celebration of the catholic church. They celebrate that Jesus Christ offers his body in the shape of bread and wine to religious people. The bread represents the body of Jesus and the wine represents the blood that Jesus has sacrificed for the people.

Valencia first celebrated Corpus Christi in 1355, and for centuries it was the city’s biggest celebration. Locals even called it ‘la festa grossa’ literally, ‘the big party!’ While its roots are deeply Christian, today the festival is just as much about culture as religion. During these festive days, Valencia comes alive with traditional music, dance, and art at every turn.

Procession

There are also two processions that take place on this day. The procession Cabalgata del Convite takes place in the morning. The procession passes through the city centre of Valencia. In the afternoon the Procession del Corpus takes place. This procession, like above mentioned procession, passes trough the city center as well.
