Valencia is known for its kilometres long, sandy beaches. One of them is Las Arenas, the beach that begins at the end of the Veles e Vents building and continues until the five-star hotel ‘Balneario Resort Las Arenas’. Because this beach is the closest to the city, it is one of the more crowded and popular beaches. Nevertheless, you will find a lot of nice restaurants, bars, some shops and a beach club.

Relaxing on the beach

Because Las Arenas is located nearby the city centre, it is easy to get there and relax at the beach for a while. From May until October there are beds and umbrellas for rent to make your stay more comfortable.

Tourism

Over the last few years, Valencia is getting more popular amongst travelers. Luckily, you will not feel this when walking through the city centre or along the boulevard. You won’t find high apartment buildings, neon-light advertising or a lot of burger and pizza restaurants. It is easy to find a spot on the elongated, broad and sandy beaches instead of searching forever and ending up close to your neighbour on a pebble beach. When thirsty or looking for some good tapas, you can pick a cosy restaurant on the boulevard.

Food and drinks

Marina Beach Club

At the beginning of Las Arenas, you will find Marina Beach Club. This relatively new beach club was opened in 2016 and already welcomed a lot of guests in their bar, swimming pool, restaurant and terrace. It has a luxurious appearance because of the white furniture, lounge seats and swimming pool. It is the perfect place to escape the busy city life and completely relax for a day. We recommend the cocktail ‘True Love’ if you like sweet, since it is the perfect mix with rum, strawberry, pineapple and passion fruit.

Portolito

This trendy and modern restaurant opened in 2015 and became a comfortable place right away. It is spatially arranged and a lot of wood and light colours are used. The restaurant is great to enjoy some tapas, paella or fresh fish. But also for a drink, good wine and live music, this is a good spot to spend some time with friends or family. Do you like Portolito? Try to visit Lotelito as well! This is a hotel and restaurant in the centre of Valencia and is the big brother of Portolito at the beach.

Vivir sin dormir

The name of this restaurant on the boulevard literally means: ‘Living without sleeping’. In this relaxed restaurant you can enjoy the sun while trying one of their typical Spanish tapas. In the morning and during the day it is a perfect place for a fresh juice or the menu of the day which the locals often choose. We recommend one of their fresh paellas or the ‘Panes de Pueblos’, which is their firm and crispy bread. In the evening after dinner is served, you can enjoy the music with a cocktail in your hand!

Balneario Resort Las Arenas

This luxurious hotel is hard to miss when walking along the beach. The impressive building is characterized by a Roman look with big pillars and a palatial appearance. If you like to relax, this five-star hotel with facilities like a spa, swimming pool and extensive breakfast is definitely a good decision. Another advantage is that the hotel is located directly along the beach, so after enjoying the breakfast you can immediately take a jump in the sea! Take a look at their website for more information, current prices and availability.

Hotel Balandret

Another great option if you are looking for a hotel along the beach is Hotel Balendret, a relatively new boutique hotel. The hotel has 21 rooms which are all decorated with soft, light colours, a minimalistic design and arty details. On the first floor you will find a patio which is perfect to enjoy a sunny afternoon with a drink and a book. Because of the location close to the sea, you can easily take your towel and feel the sand between your toes almost right after waking up! Take a look at their website for more information, current prices and availability.

Tips

  • Las Arenas is the beach most nearby the city centre, but still it takes a while to get there. Rent a bike to reach the beach in less than half an hour!
  • Do you want to enjoy the sun until the evening? The sun goes down behind the boulevard, so when you don’t have sun on the beach anymore, you can visit Malabar. The sun will go down on this side, where you can enjoy it as long as possible with a drink and a tasteful snack.
