Patacona beach is the best option for those who want to go to the beach and prefer a less touristy atmosphere and further away from the bustle of bars, restaurants and pubs of the Paseo Marítimo. Patacona is a sand beach which is more than one kilometre long and very wide. It belongs to the municipality of Alboraya but is easily reached by public transport or even on foot, as it is located just after the Malvarrosa Beach. In the summer months (the end of May till half October) you will find several ‘chiringuitos’, in other words: beach bars.

More than just the beach

La Patacona has also other attractions that make it a beach worth to visit. It is only a few minutes away from the area where you can taste the best horchata in Valencia, because Alboraya is considered as the capital of horchata. A fresh drink made of tigernuts. In Valencia you can drink horchata in the horchaterías of Valencia.

How to reach Patacona

Because Patacona is located in the north, just after the Malvarrosa beach, it’s easy to walk to Patacona from la Malvarrosa. This will take about half an hour. Furthermore you can take several bus lines: line 2, 19, 31, 32, N1 and N9. It’s also nice to go by bike to Patacona beach. This will take 30 minutes.

By entering La Más Bonita you feel like it’s already summer. The building is painted white with aqua blue accents. It’s a very nice hotspot on the beach of Valencia. A bit out of the way, but without doubt it’s worth visiting the place. It’s one of the few trendy bars at the beach. At La Más Bonita you can eat delicious sweets, but on the menu you can also find sandwiches, salads and some tapas. In front of the building you’ll find a relaxing terrace with view on the beach and at the back of the building you’ll find a romantic courtyard where you can sit in the shadow. Tips

  • At this beach you’ll find many (kite)surfers, when the waves are right!
  • If you go to Patacona by bike, you can choose to cycle a bit further. After a cycle and a walk you’ll end up in Port Saplaya, a beach town, which is also called ‘Little Venice’. Go see for yourself why it is called after this Italian highlight!
